Leadership textbook review
11/10/20063.00 of 5 stars
This book was required for one of the university classes I'm currently taking. I do not find this book to be particularly well-written. Although it's full of contemporary research findings and theories on leadership, the author's style is too dry and formal for me and so I have a hard time staying awake while reading it. This is not to say that it's not a valuable book, however. It's simply a question of writing style.
I think it is one of the TOP leadership books of our times.

Although it is difficult to start reading this book and at times the style seems too dry but I have not seen a book on leadership on which an author would have put so much work from every aspect you look, namely research investigation, advice on how to practically check many of your own leadership aspects, how to train yourself or your group to be better at some things. I found so many points that would have been invaluable in my as a manager's career if I had known them earlier. Every word you read, makes your sure that it is not an empty and try statement but everything is based on a real experience and real research on companies because the author lets us know who has done this research and on how many companies. I have bought around 10 more books on this subject but I can tell you that no book could compare with this one.
One minus I found in this book that examples and cases are not very interesting and clear.
Despite of this I think it is one of the TOP leadership books of our times.
counterfeit

I purchased the textbook Leadership by Dubrin for Winter 2008 and learned that it was a counterfeit copy. This textbook was required for my Business Ethics class at Walsh College located in Michigan. I learned during my final exams that 3 chapters were missing from the text. When I tried to sell the text to the college I was notified of the text being a counterfeit copy. The bookstore also advise me of several other copies being sold.
